One of multiple Cryptoporus brackets growing on a dead standing tree. Found along a trail at the WVU Woodlot (near the farm). * About the size of my thumbnail. * Tree host/substrate was little more than a trunk and a couple of dead branches. * Cutting it was . . . "odd". The exterior was tough to slice open, but there was no resistance internally. Photos show top, side, bottom, cross-section cut (with and without flash), host/substrate and in situ.
